Watchdog says Twitch, Match TV delete disputed content

MOSCOW, Dec 17 (PRIME) -- U.S. streaming service Twitch and Russian television channel Match TV have deleted the content disputed by media holding Rambler Group and access to the resources will not be restricted, a spokesperson for the communications service told PRIME on Tuesday.

“The communications service notified Match TV and Twitch…They’ve taken measures to delete the disputed content. As a result, access to them will not be limited,” the spokesperson said.

Rambler Group earlier claimed its exclusive rights on live broadcast of the English Premier League’s matches in the seasons of 2019–2020, 2020–2021 and 2021–2022.

The Moscow City Court earlier satisfied Rambler’s request for preliminary injunctive remedies and temporarily blocked content on matchtv.ru to protect the holding’s rights.

On Monday, the court also suspended Twitch’s broadcasting of the league’s matches as well under Rambler’s lawsuit, which also includes a 180 billion ruble claim. The next hearing is scheduled for Friday.

A Rambler spokesperson said earlier that the holding is in talks with Twitch on a truce.
